Cycling transfers: Ineos catches Giro winner Richard Carpaz

September 2, 2019 by Michael Behringer

Cycling Transfers Carapaz Ineos

Cycling transfers: As already assumed, the Ineos team will be strengthened with Richard Carapaz (Movistar) for the coming season. The change was officially announced today, as was the transfer from Nairo Quintana (Movistar) to Arkéa – Samsic.

Ineos gets even stronger

That Nairo Quintana and Richard Carapaz will leave the Spanish team Movistar has been clear for a few weeks. Even where they would probably go was discussed during the Tour de France. However, the ink is only now dry. As expected, Nairo Quintana joins the French ProContinental team Arkéa – Samsic around André Greipel and Robert Wagner. Giro winner Richard Carapaz is moving to the British team Ineos, which is signing another world star for the high mountains. With Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas, Egan Bernal and now Richard Carapaz, the team can draw on four Grand Tour winners. It is unclear how the roles will then be distributed in the major national tours. Presumably nobody wants to come second. However, Ineos is also building on the future. While Froome and Thomas are nearing the end of their careers, Bernal and Carpaz are just 22 and 26 years old respectively.

Cycling transfers: all transfers at a glance – status: 02.09.

Nairo Quintana isn't the only signing Team Arkéa – Samsic announced today. Also switch Diego Rose (Ineos) and Winner Anacona (Movistar) to France. Thus, the team around André Greipel and Robert Wagner has a clear restructuring in mind. It is questionable to what extent there will still be room for the sprinter and his approach. Furthermore, some things will change at Lotto – Soudal. Finally, the Belgian team announced John Degenkolb (Trek – Segafredo) and Philip Gilbert (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) to sign. You give for that Tiesj Benoot at Sunweb from and Victor Campenaerts to NTT, now Dimension Data. Lennard Kamna stays in Germany, but changes from Sunweb to Bora – hansgrohe.
