September 10, 2019 by Andrew Waldera

Product news/Eurobike 2019: As part of the Eurobike 2019, the watch and navigation specialist Garmin presented its new GPS multisport watch series Fenix 6. The update of the Fenix series comes with a larger display, optimized menu navigation and many other features. Three sizes and two versions are available, including a solar edition.

Equipped with a multitude of modifications and features, the new GPS multisport watch series Garmin Fenix 6 will be presented at Eurobike 2019. The watch and navigation manufacturer Garmin has put a lot of effort into the update. Based on the Fenix series, the new models have established everyday features and training functions with optimized HR measurement. The new bezel design and the narrower case of the S variant should offer the owner both a stylish appearance and improved wearing comfort. Together with the S variant, a total of three display sizes (42, 47 and 51 mm) are available. Two design variants are also available. In addition to the PRO models with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, there is also a sapphire version with a scratch-resistant sapphire lens.

Power Manager for more battery performance

For more battery power, the Garmin engineers have given the new Garmin Fenix 6 GPS multisport watch series a power manager for the first time. The user thus has the opportunity to view various settings and sensors - and to control them according to the requirements in order to save energy. The runtime is also spared in expedition mode. The Fenix 6X PRO Solar goes one step further. Equipped with Garmin Power Glass and transparent solar charging lens, the battery life is extended with the help of solar energy. According to Garmin, the battery life of the Fenix 6X PRO Solar is 21 days in smartwatch mode plus an additional three days when using the solar charging functions. The Fenix 6S has a runtime of 25 hours in GPS and 20 days in Expedition mode, the Fenix 6 has 36 hours in GPS and 28 days in Expedition mode, and the Fenix 6X has 60 hours in GPS and 46 days in Expedition mode, according to the manufacturer further.

Automatic accident notification and preinstalled TopoActive Europe maps

Other new features include optimized menu navigation for a clear widget display, as well as automatic accident notification and emergency assistance. These also include safety and tracking functions. A powerful package comes with the pre-installed TopoActive Europe maps. The maps now also cover 2.000 ski resorts and 41.000 Golf courses. For training optimization and recovery, the Body Battery uses stress level measurement and sleep tracking. The values are recorded and calculated using the optimized heart rate measurement and the integrated PulseOx sensor. The newly implemented PacePro function allows running sessions to be planned based on the route profile or individual strategies and executed more efficiently with dynamic pace targets. Additional features include compatibility with streaming services, Garmin Pay, and smart notifications.
