Product news: BMW and Brose are not only connected by the fact that both come from the automotive industry. The two traditional manufacturers have had a long partnership since the first electric windows were installed in the 3200 CS coupé. So it's obvious that the new BMW Active Hybrid E-Bike is now equipped with a Brose drive.

Over the decades, business with BMW has grown significantly across the entire Brose product range. Today, Brose supplies the premium brand in Europe, North America, China and South Africa with mechatronic systems for doors and seats as well as electric motors across the entire product portfolio.
Brose has transferred its know-how to the e-bike and in 2014 designed an innovative drive system for electric bikes that is produced in Berlin. Brose and BMW are also working together successfully in this segment.
BMW Active Hybrid E-Bike: The drive
A quiet and powerful "Brose Drive S Alu" works in the BMW Active Hybrid E-Bike, delivering 250 watts of continuous rated power and a strong 90 Newton meters of torque. It supports up to 25 kilometers per hour and, thanks to the Brose freewheel technology, makes pedaling without motor support very easy. “We designed the drives in such a way that they are completely decoupled. This means: If the motor is switched off or the battery is exhausted, the e-bike can be ridden like a normal bike without additional pedaling resistance," says Schuster.
In addition to their sporty design, BMW vehicle models are also characterized by sporty handling. That's why the sportiest Brose drive, the Brose Drive S Alu, fits perfectly with the BMW e-bike concept. Brose drives convey a natural driving experience, because the use of highly sensitive sensors allows the drive power to be precisely metered. If you pedal more, you get more support from the system. Brose is known for this particularly sensitive control.
BMW Active Hybrid E-Bike: The wheel
The 600 watt Li-ion battery comes from a certified supplier and enables a long range. It is fully integrated into the down tube of the frame, but can be removed for loading. The handlebar display has a micro USB output and Bluetooth function. The BMW Active Hybrid E-Bike has a hydroformed aluminum frame in the typical BMW design. A Suntour suspension fork painted in the frame color with 60 millimeters of travel and 28-inch wheels with wide Continental tires offer comfort and driving safety. The LED lighting is powered by the drive's large battery. A headlight from Busch & Müller shines at the front, the rear light is discreetly integrated into the rear fender.
The BMW Active Hybrid E-Bike is available in three frame sizes in the Lifestyle Collection from BMW dealers in Europe and the USA.
