Lazer Urbanize e-bike helmet: New urban helmet with NTA certification offers increased impact protection

8 October 2019 by Andrew Waldera

Product news / E-Performance: From January 2020, Lazer will be offering the new Urbanize e-bike helmet especially for use in urban environments. Unlike many other models in this range, the Lazer Urbanize is certified according to the Dutch NTA standard for speed pedelecs. The certification stands for increased protection at higher impact speeds.

In order to ensure the safety of a helmet for S-Pedelec riders, the Netherlands immediately created its own certification due to a lack of a standard. The NTA-8776 standard promises e-bikers better protection at higher impact speeds. A plus in safety that the new Lazer Urbanize e-bike helmet also has. The functional helmet, which will be available both with and without MIPS, is designed for driving in an urban environment - and accordingly also has special finesse. The generously dimensioned panorama visor protects the eyes from wind and dust. Held in place by a magnet integrated in the helmet, the visor can be rotated 180 degrees and fixed to the helmet when not in use. To make it easy to open and close the clasp, the designers also gave it a magnet. The Lazer Urbanize e-bike helmet can be individually adjusted using the adjustment wheel of the Advanced Turnfit adjustment system.

Lazer Urbanize: Winter package with fluffy earpads included

The rechargeable LED rear light integrated in the helmet is intended to ensure better perception by other road users, especially in poor visibility. Another clever solution: When removing the rear light, the resulting hole can be used as an opening for a lock. The helmet can be chained on so easily and therefore does not have to be carried along when cycling. The helmet straps also prove that functionality and comfort do not have to exclude the style factor. Made from fine leather, these look very classy. The scope of delivery of the Lazer Urbanize e-bike helmet also includes a winter package with fluffy ear pads and sealing plugs to close the ventilation openings. The helmet (size M), which according to the manufacturer weighs 415 grams, will be available from January 2020. The prices are 129,95 euros without MIPS and 149,95 euros with MIPS.
