Track European Championship: Beyer & Reinhardt win bronze at the end

20 October 2019 by Michael Behringer

European Track Cycling Championships Reinhardt Beyer Bronze Madison

Cycling: The BDR was also able to celebrate a medal on the last day of the European Track Cycling Championships in Apeldoorn. Maximilian Beyer and Theo Reinhardt won bronze at Madison.

Lea Sophie Friedrich just missed bronze

Lea Sophie Friedrich almost won a medal on the last day of the European Track Cycling Championships. In the 500 meter time trial she finished fourth. The Russian Anastasiia Voinova became European Champion. Also in 1000 meter time trial of the gentlemen, the BDR almost had reason to be happy. Marc Jurczyk was fifth in the triumph of Frenchman Quentin Lafargue.

However, the last day of the European Track Cycling Championships did not pass us by without winning a medal. In the Madison the duo Maximilian Beyer and Theo Reinhardt won bronze. The title went to the Danes Michael Morkov and Lasse Norman Hansen. The women had no chance in this competition. While the Swiss Aline Seitz and Andrea Waldis finished ninth, Franziska Brauße and Lisa Klein finished one place behind. Here, too, Denmark triumphed. Amalie Dideriksen and Julie Leth narrowly defeated Brits Katie Archibald and Laura Kenny.

All in all, the BDR can look back on a successful track cycling championship. A total of nine medals were celebrated: 1x gold, 5x silver & 3x bronze. The Dutch were particularly successful with 13 successes. Just like the French, they were allowed to wear five gold medals.
