Product news: Mavic MTB Highlights - Winter can come

21 November 2019 by Florian Nowak

Product news: Autumn is here and winter is just around the corner. In this special phase of the year it can get uncomfortable, especially on the bike. Mavic is bringing two new thermal shoes and a helmet for off-road use so that you are still well protected on the road.

Mavic XA Thermo shoes

The Mavic XA Thermo is an insulated trail shoe that, thanks to the most advanced technology, is light and comfortable while also keeping your feet warm and dry. Thinsulate fibers are used to achieve this. These are approximately 15 microns (0,00059 in) in diameter, thinner than the polyester fibers typically used for insulated clothing such as gloves or winter jackets. Thinsulate is more effective due to the increased fiber density. It retains heat generated by the body while allowing moisture to evaporate in the process. The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment protects against rain and moisture.

Despite all the functionality, comfort is also at the top of the list. The Mavic XA Thermo shoe offers the same comfort and fit as a summer MTB shoe thanks to the full gaiter and Thinsulate material. The 3D OrthoLite insole provides cushioning and comfort throughout the ride. The Quick Lace System offers a comfortable closure and a firm hold. Traction and control in mud, ice or snow are also extremely important, especially off-road. thanks to the Energy Grip Trail+ outsole you get additional stability and pedal control. The Contagrip Ice grip tabs ensure maximum grip on slippery surfaces. The Mavic XA Thermo will be available this fall at 920 grams for 250 euros.

Mavic XA GTX shoes

The Mavic XA GTX shoes ensure complete protection from the elements without compromising, thanks to the Gore Invisible Fit technology. The goal during development was nevertheless to offer first-class comfort and a pleasant fit. In addition, care was taken to ensure that the shoe is durable and light. This is achieved through the unique construction, which is 30% lighter than a standard Gore-Tex bootie construction. The padded EVA midsole provides additional comfort. Strategically placed TPU foil and synthetic toe cap offer the best protection with minimal weight. The Mavic XA GTX shoe also focuses on improved grip and control in wet, slippery conditions. The Contagrip Wet Traction offers excellent traction and durability in wet conditions. As with the Thermo, the unique Energy Grip Trail+ outsole is also used here and offers optimal stability and pedal control. The rigid insole ensures efficient pedaling performance with just enough flexibility when walking. The MAvic XA GTX weighs 720 grams and is available for 200 euros.

Mavic Deemax Mips helmet

The Mavic Deemax Mips combines everything you could want in an advanced trail riding helmet, superior MIPS protection, comfort, ventilation and safety. The simple and safe fit system makes an extremely important contribution to this and, thanks to the exclusive combination of safety technology, ensures maximum protection. Because the MAvic Deemax Mips combines the EPS-4D and MIPS brain protection system. The EPS 4D technology offers up to 30% better shock absorption than the normal EPS construction. Thanks to MIPS technology, the rotational energy transmitted to the brain from angled hits to the head can be reduced. Of course, a precise fit and wearing comfort also ensure even more safety. The exclusive Autofit system offers perfect, uncomplicated adjustment of the chin strap, which weighs only 310 grams. 19 ventilation openings ensure maximum air circulation and ventilation. The helmet weighs a total of 310 grams and is available in five colors for 125 euros.
