Radcross: Mathieu van der Poel won the World Cup race in Namur. In unpleasant weather conditions, however, the Dutchman Toon Aerts only just defeated. For a long time, the Belgian champion looked like a sure winner before he fell twice.
Toon Aerts takes the lead in the World Cup
Not unexpectedly won Mathieu van der Poel ((Corendon – Circus)) the World Cup race in Namur. But this time it wasn't as sovereign as usual. The Dutchman struggled with the weather conditions just like the competition. The Belgian champion was the best at it Toon Aerts (Telenet-Baloise). But although he looked like the sure winner, in the end he could only be happy about second place. Toon Aerts fell twice in the last two laps. This was the only way that Mathieu van der Poel was able to pass and achieve the next success. After all: Toon Aerts takes the lead in the overall World Cup with #2. And the German Marcel Meisen also has every reason to be happy after ranking #8.
Mathieu van der Poel:
“It was epic conditions. We crossers actually like that, but today it was really cold and wet. I'm really happy to have won here today in front of such a big crowd."
