Cycling: After a disappointing sprint at Previous day Caleb Ewan (Lotto – Soudal) has returned with a win in Stirling. Despite the difficult final kilometers, the Australian did not let himself be left behind and thus also takes the lead in the overall standings.
Joey Rosskopf takes over the mountain jersey
From Woodside to Stirling, the pros had to cover 135,8 kilometers today in the Tour Down Under. Two different circuits each had to be completed three times. The greatest difficulty should be the Quarry Road, on which there were two mountain points to be distributed. This secured Joey Rosskopf (CCC), who already scored points yesterday and will therefore start tomorrow's stage as the new leader in the mountains classification. The Belgians were on the run with the Americans Laurens De Vresse (Astana), the Australian Samual Jenner (UniSA-Australia) and the Israeli Omer Being Gold (Israel Start Up Nation).
Caleb Ewan is once again in a class of his own at Stirling
Despite good cooperation, the leading quartet was unable to reach the finish line in Stirling ahead of the peloton. Since the profile led slightly irregularly uphill in the last few kilometers, there was a duel between sprinters and puncheurs. Despite numerous attempts to increase the pace, by far not all the fast men could be distanced. On the contrary: Caleb ewan (Lotto – Soudal) won easily Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) and Nathan Hass (Cofidis). The fact that only a few drivers crossed the finish line at the same time was due to a fall in the last few kilometers. Tomorrow the general classification will be made up to Paracombe.
