University cross in Brussels: Van der Poel & Alvarado continue to win

6 January 2020 by Michael Behringer

Van der Poel Ruddervoorde

Cycle cross: At the moment there are two pros in cyclo cross that can hardly be stopped. While Mathieu van der Poel dominates as usual in the men's field, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado is currently the clear number one in the women's field. The two were also allowed to celebrate at the university cross in Brussels on Sunday.

Eli Iserbyt continues to lead in the DVV Trofee

The Alpecin - Fenix (formerly Corendon - Circus) team will dominate in cyclocross in 2020. There is currently no way around the drivers of this team for both the women and the men.

Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin - Fenix) won the University Cross in Brussels by 30 seconds ahead of Eli Iserbyt (Pauwels Sauzen - Bingoal) and by 38 seconds ahead of Corne van Kessel (Tormans CX). In the overall ranking of the DVV Trofee, however, the Dutch world champion is further behind today's second.

In the women's category, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (Alpecin – Fenix) was able to extend her overall lead. She won nine seconds ahead of Annemarie Worst (777) and 72 seconds ahead of Sanne Cant (IKO – Crelan).
