MTB News: With the documentary "Every Mystery I've Lived", the Swedish slopestyle pro Emil Johansson has given a very emotional insight into his long ordeal and his return to the sport. His new video "EMIL: The Next Chapter" now shows what has happened since then.
The 2020 Crankworx FMBA Slopestyle World Championship season will kick off in just a few days in Rotorua, New Zealand. Also at the start is slopestyle pro Emil Johansson, who is one of the closest favorites. Anything but a matter of course for the Swede. Almost exactly a year ago, the young slopestyle talent was condemned to watch. Being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and recovering from a back injury made 2018 and 2019 physically and mentally formative years.
"Before I received my diagnosis, I had no idea what was going on. What happens to me, over and over again? Why do I keep getting sick and feeling horrible? It's incredibly difficult for me to stay healthy while I want to focus on training. It's even harder for me to take a step back in my head and start thinking about my future instead of constantly going full throttle on the bike."
The comeback at the Crankworx Innsbruck with a very close second place behind the winner Brett Rheeder impressed fans and trade press alike. The documentary "Every Mystery I've Lived" accompanies the now 20-year-old on his long ordeal and subsequent return to sport. The new video "EMIL: The Next Chapter" picks up on exactly that point and shows what has happened since then.
“I trained a lot on the bike and enjoyed the time at home without traveling a lot. So I was able to concentrate on staying healthy and preparing myself optimally for the season."
