E-Performance: For several years, Belgian Pierre Detry and his Polish team have been working on e-bikes, which have also been delivered since April 2019. These are low-entry e-bikes with the euphonious names "Milano" and "Amsterdam". The BZEN Amsterdam was probably the lightest e-bike on the market in 2019, but that's not all. The new 2020 model was put on a diet again and the result is a 13,75 kg light Dutch bike.

BZEN Amsterdam: Is this really an e-bike?
In addition to the incredibly low weight of 13,75 kg, it was also important to make the optics as unobtrusive as possible, which not only worked out quite well at first glance. Because the e-bike doesn't look like one of its "conspecifics", the extremely slim battery is completely installed in the down tube and the small motor is located on the rear wheel hub. So it is perfectly hidden between the brake disc and the sprocket. The rear light was also installed discreetly on or in the luggage rack.

BZEN Amsterdam: No frills available!
The e-bike is easily controlled via the display on the handlebars. This means that the support level can be set without any complicated app configuration and the battery capacity is also clearly displayed. In addition to controlling the drive, the light is also controlled via the control unit. This can either be switched on and off manually or the task can be assigned to the integrated brightness sensor.

BZEN Amsterdam: Quality from Europe
The founder of the e-bike brand BZEN (abbreviation for "be Zen"), Pierre Detry, attaches great importance to quality and workmanship. The frame is produced in a factory in Silesia and all electronic components are developed and produced in Europe, which is a rarity in the industry. The fact that there is a lot of detail in the development of the BZEN Amsterdam can also be seen in the power transmission, for example, an oil-free toothed belt is installed in this chic Dutch bike instead of a conventional drive chain. With the geometry, the developers paid attention to the most comfortable and upright seating position possible. In this way, the back is not arched and a good posture is prevented
BZEN Amsterdam: Satisfied performance
The 250 watt strong Bafang wheel hub motor supports the driver up to a speed of 25 km/h with a maximum torque of 42 Nm. This means that even traffic light sprints can be easily mastered in urban traffic. The 252 Wh battery installed in the down tube provides enough power for a range of around 35 km - 70 km depending on the support level, terrain and surface.
