Cycling: Jai Hindley (Sunweb) is on the verge of winning the overall title after his second win of the day at the Herald Sun Tour. The Australian was also the strongest up Mount Buller, while Germany's Jonasrutsch (EF) won the Most Fighting Rider award.
Jai Hindley extends his overall lead
Tomorrow the Herald Sun Tour ends in Melbourne. But the overall winner already seems to have been determined today. Because after his win on the second day up Falls Creek, Leader won Jay Hindley (Sunweb) today also the mountain finish at Mount Buller. The 23-year-old Australian was ahead of his compatriots at an altitude of 1.584 meters Sebastian Berwick (St George Continental Cycling Team), Jay Vine (Nero Continental) and Jesse Ewart (Sapura Cycling) prevail. Jai Hindley now leads the overall standings with a lead of ten seconds over Sebastian Berwick, who is only 20 years old. 36 and 51 seconds behind respectively Damien Howson (Mitchelton-Scott) and Neilson Powless (EF).
Jonasrutsch was part of the breakaway group
The fourth stage of the tour through the Australian state of Victoria was marked for a long time by a 7-man breakaway group in which in person from Jonas slip (EF) also found a driver from Germany. The brave fighter in pink and blue even won the award for the most combative driver at the end of the day. But in the end he was unable to intervene in the fight for the stage win. The finale opened attacks by James Piccoli (Israel Start Up Nation), DionSmith (Mitchelton-Scott) and Simon yates (Mitchelton-Scott). But only the attack of Sebastian Berwick brought Jay Hindley to get out of the saddle too. He countered the attack, won the stage and can probably be crowned overall winner tomorrow.
“The guys were incredible, they rode the front from K one. I'm just so relieved I could pay off all their hard work. This is a pretty special one. It's amazing, I've known Michael [Storer] for yonks, and to have him ride in the final for me like that it was unreal” – @JaiHindley pic.twitter.com/z23WCByOsd
