E-Performance: After the launch of the new carbon e-bike Merida eOne-Sixty in summer 2019, the long-awaited all-aluminum version of the successful e-bike, the Merida eOne-Sixty Limited Edition, is finally available. With the addition of the new aluminum variant, the full suspension e-bike range is finally complete for 2020 and so Merida offers a wide choice of frame material and budget. A total of five Merida eOne Sixtys with internal battery technology are now available to choose from.
Merida eOne-Sixty Limited Edition: following the success story?
After three years at the top of the full-suspension e-bike market, the most decorated bike in MERIDA history, the “original” eOne-Sixty, found its successor in the new carbon eOne-Sixty at the end of May 2019. The new bike would bring a long list of exciting features to the table while retaining the much-vaunted ride characteristics of the "original" eOne-Sixty.
Merida eOne-Sixty Limited Edition: entry-level price thanks to the aluminum frame
At MERIDA they are well aware that a carbon front triangle may not be everyone's preferred choice and that there is a need to expand the price range of the full suspension e-bike. Those two factors were enough to get back to the drawing board and develop the all-aluminum versions of the bike – welcome to the eOne-Sixty Limited Edition.
Even though the Merida eOne-Sixty now comes with an aluminum front triangle, it retains most of the exciting attributes of the carbon wheel. The battery is fully integrated into the frame and can be easily accessed by removing the Energy Guard battery cover. The battery can be removed with a 4mm Allen key, allowing charging away from the bike and making battery replacement super quick and easy.
The mounted Expert TR thru-axles feature a removable lever that initially allows for easy loosening and tightening of the axles, but also works as a 4mm hex key, perfect for loosening the battery or tightening important parts like the shaft bolt or the seat clamp is suitable.
Merida eOne-Sixty Limited Edition: Small well thought-out details
The aluminum e-bike will be equipped with the Merida mini front and rear fenders, which not only keep mud and spray away from the rider's eyes, but also protect the seat post and ensure longer durability.
To keep things calm and organized, the eOne-Sixty Aluminum features continuous internal cable routing with the added innovation of an internal clamp inside the down tube. This clamp also provides a mounting position for a water bottle cage. The new aluminum frame accommodates a 0,75L bottle that fits all sizes (except the XS and S).
To keep the cockpit area tidy, the Limited Edition bikes feature the Merida Expert eTR cockpit, which offers internal cable routing for the e-system cables through the handlebars and stem.
Merida eOne-Sixty Limited Edition: plenty of power thanks to the Shimano STEPS E8000 drive
And if you look at the onboard powerplant, the bike is 'assisted' by the enormously powerful and extremely reliable Shimano E8000 motor, paired with the new E8035 internal battery.
One of the Merida eOne-Sixty's strongest attributes, often praised by riders and the bike press, is its rounded geometry. Certainly keeping the essence of its playful yet stable handling in the new version of the bike, Mérida engineers wanted to add further improvements to take it to the next level.
The Merida eOne-Sixty Limited Edition and all of its components have also been tested and certified for an increased system weight of 140 kg, giving the rider the assurance that the bike has been pushed far beyond legal requirements.
