Spectrum: The corona crisis has the world in its grip and it is clearly shown to us that production at the other end of the world has disadvantages. There is another way! Short distances can make a lot of sense both ecologically and economically. This manufacturer manufactures right on our doorstep…
Regionality and sustainability - aspects that are more important than ever today. The family business Airwings from Hirtlbach in Bavaria has wanted to stand for these values since the company was founded in 1996. The independent company started a sales cooperation with the Hebie Group in 2018, which is now being consistently expanded.
In addition to a new corporate identity, the popular seat posts have also changed in appearance, without neglecting the usual high quality. All products are now available in black, the spring strength is "hard" by default, but can be customized as usual.
The "Solid" model is new - a stable solution for cycling lovers with a body weight of over 140 kg. The makers see "Airwings" seat posts as a fascinating interplay of precise craftsmanship and the latest computer and machine technology.
Company manager Katharina Hillreiner also underscores the maxim that has been put forward:
“We don't just make sure that our products convince with advanced solutions; the increasingly important environmental aspects have always been given significant consideration in our manufacturing processes. With an in-house added value of 90 percent, we have reduced the transport routes to an absolute minimum. In addition, we strengthen the local job market in Hirtlbach (Bavaria, Germany), work with many of our own products or together with partners from the region and always act according to the motto "reuse instead of throwing away". In addition, our seat posts last almost a lifetime, so that here too we counteract the trend towards short-lived product cycles and planned obsolescence.”
Maybe we should pay attention to which products we buy where when it comes to our hobby, cycling. Because let's be honest: Almost all of us can afford to pay a few euros more at the local dealer instead of the bargain price online.
