Cycling: As expected, the Milan – Sanremo and Tirreno Adriatico races have now been postponed due to the corona virus. However, catch-up dates have not yet been set. Meanwhile, Michal Kwiatkowski (Ineos) drove the route from Strade Bianche all by himself.
Will the races be rescheduled in October?
After the cancellation of Strade Bianche, the organizers have now also canceled the Monument Milan - Sanremo and the Tour Tirreno Adriatico. However, the statement officially states that the races will be postponed. Due to the tight schedule, however, it will be difficult to find suitable catch-up dates. The possibility of catching up on the postponed races in October is currently being discussed - when the cycling elite is in Italy anyway for the Lombardy Tour. On the other hand, it will take place on the planned date Paris – Nice. On Sunday, however, there are significantly fewer WorldTour teams than usual.
Kwiatkowski drove Strade Bianche anyway
Michal Kwiatkowski (Ineos) did not let his joy on gravel roads be taken away. Despite Strade Bianche's cancellation, the Pole stayed on site and completed a very special training session. He was completely alone as he raced down the white streets. He then published his exit on Facebook and wrote about it "because I love these streets".
