Kuurne – Brussels – Kuurne: Asgreen saves the sprinters to the finish

March 1, 2020 by Michael Behringer

Asgreen Kuurne

Cycling: Kasper Asgreen (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) won the semi-classic Kuurne – Brussels – Kuurne after a strong solo. Although several teams had chased him in the last few kilometers, he was able to save himself to the finish line.

Asgreen celebrates long overdue victory

Kasper Asgreen (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) has always put himself at the service of his teammates in recent years. Now the Dane has finally rewarded himself with a big win. Actually known for keeping the pace constantly high at the front in the peloton, he did exactly the same thing today for the last 30 kilometers - only without a peloton on the rear wheel. Because after his attack, the 25-year-old initially caught up with the four breakaways and later left this quartet behind as well. And although numerous teams behind him wanted to get their sprinters into position, Kasper Asgreen was able to hold his own in front. So sprinted James Nizzolo (NTT) before alexander kristoff (UAE Team Emirates) only for second place.
