Spectrum: The Vaude Second Use Shop has been on eBay since 2015, where used products from the Tettnang outdoor clothing specialist can be privately resold. Vaude and eBay are now expanding their commitment to more sustainability: In the new upcycling store in Germany, do-it-yourself fans can find leftover materials from textile production for their own ideas.
The Tettnang-based company Vaude has been pursuing a consistent sustainability course for many years, which is implemented in all areas. Vaude was the first outdoor company to be eco-certified according to EMAS. According to their own statements, the company location in Tettnang and all products manufactured there have been climate-neutral since 2012. However, the brand is not only progressive in the development and manufacture of products, but also in the area of sustainability. After the Vaude Second Use Shop, the Black Forest company is once again cooperating with eBay and is launching the jointly initiated Upcycling Store.
“In most cases, recycling means that waste is downcycled, i.e. incinerated and converted into energy. Together we want to achieve exactly the opposite and give a new life to surplus materials from production” – Antje von Dewitz, Managing Director of Vaude Sport
Among other things, materials that are produced during production at the southern German company headquarters in Tettnang are on offer here. The high-quality, robust and environmentally friendly PVC-free materials, which mainly come from bicycle bag production, are suitable for all DIY enthusiasts who want to let their creativity run free. In the new upcycling store, pre-packed boxes with a colorful mix of leftovers can be bought at online auctions. All sales proceeds benefit the charitable foundation "Save the Children", which has been campaigning for children's rights for over 100 years.
