Best Cycling Movies #30: New heroes

30 April 2020 by Michael Behringer

Cycling Movies

Cycling Films: Today, to conclude our cycling film series, we want to look at the documentary New heroes to heart. It follows the Argos – Shimano team during the 2013 Tour de France.

New heroes: At the 2013 Tour de France

Just in time for the 100th Tour de France, the Argos – Simano team managed to get promoted to the WorldTour and take part in the Tour of France. Reason enough to follow the team closely with a camera team for three weeks and to record the highlight of the year in a documentary - and it was worth it. Right at the start, Marcel Kittel won the mass sprint in Bastia and thus took over the yellow jersey. The German should manage three more stage victories.

But the documentary by director Dirk Jan Roeleven and producer Pieter van Huystee does not only deal with what is happening on the street. The main question is how today's professionals can ensure the credibility of the sport. Because after numerous doping scandals, cycling is looking for those New heroes.

Today's Team Sunweb emerged from Argos – Shimano

In 2013, Team Argos – Shimano made its debut as a WorldTour team. The team was founded a long time ago. Still active in 1999 under the name Batavus – Bankgiroloterij – Big Star, the sponsors changed almost every year. Even today, the team still exists - albeit heavily changed - under the name Sunweb.

Unfortunately, the documentation is not easy New heroes to get. Experience has shown that it appears every now and then on known ones streaming services and with a bit of luck you can find it used on ebay or amazon - maybe also under the name Clean spirit.

Here is an overview of all our featured cycling films.
