GCA league celebrates the start of the season

And already the first race of the GCA league is history. On Saturday, participants did two virtual laps of the Sand & Sequoias course on their rollers at home via Zwift. A leading group of almost 50 sprinted. The victory could itself Lucas Carstensen (Bike Aid) before John Herrmann (Rad-Union Wangen). Won in the women Romy Kasper (Parkhoel Valkenburg), who was the only woman to place in the first group. Second was three minutes behind Kerstin Poehl (Team Belle Stahlbau Women). As always on Zwift, the race started at a fast pace from the start. The field only thinned out when it started to go uphill for the first time after ten kilometers.

4 more races are planned

Within the GCA Liga is a virtual cycling national league advertised by the BDR. A total of five races are to be held virtually this season. Men and women as well as all age groups compete against each other. Of course there are separate ratings. While every user is entitled to participate, only those who can show a valid BDR license are included in the overall ranking. Can watch on the YouTube channel e-Cycling TV Germany however everyone.

GCA digital head coach Tim Boehme:
“The first run of the GCA league with over 300 male starters was a complete success. It turns out that the German racing drivers are fit even without street racing. The top drivers drove between 4,6 and 5,2 watts/kg on average and brought an enormous amount of watts onto the digital road for the first run.”
