MTB News: The anticipation was great. After a three-year break, the world's best slopestyle mountain bikers were to gather in Nuremberg again in late summer as part of the Red Bull District Ride to determine the best of their kind. But unfortunately nothing will come of it: Due to health concerns and the current decision of the federal government, according to which major events are banned until the end of this year, the organizers are refraining from holding the slopestyle event this year.
The waiting time for the next Red Bull District Ride in the Franconian metropolis is getting longer. The organizers are currently checking whether the event will or can take place next year. A hard blow for fans, organizers and riders alike. The spectacular event in the middle of Nuremberg's old town can look back on a long history. The first Red Bull District Ride in Nuremberg took place in 2005, with Aaron Chase taking the first win. This year, the slopestyle veteran should be responsible for the design of the course. Now all that remains is the hope that the event will be postponed to next year.
"The decision was made due to health concerns and the current decision of the federal government, according to which major events are prohibited until August 31 of this year. We are currently evaluating whether a postponement to the coming year is possible. We are sure that the decision will be understood and respected by everyone.” – Official statement from the organizers
