Product news: Although tubeless systems offer very good puncture protection, the tubeless version is not completely immune to a flat tire either. If the puncture is too large, the sealant reaches its limits and the tire ultimately has to be patched. The Zéfal Z-Bar Plugs don't prevent breakdowns, but they do allow the tubeless repair kit to disappear invisibly into the end of the handlebars.
The French manufacturer Zéfal continues to expand its range of components that enable practical integration of important accessories. The new Z-Bar plugs for mountain bikes are tubeless repair kits that are hidden in the end of the handlebars, waiting to be used. The two-piece Z-Plug repair kit is like a handlebar plug and is fully integrated into the handlebar end. The structure of the clever system is quickly explained: A handlebar plug contains the insertion tool (fork) and 5 millimeter wide repair strips, the second plug houses a knife and 2 millimeter thick repair strips. The assembly in the handlebars takes place without tools by simply turning the aluminum end piece.
The tubeless repair kit is therefore on every tour and always ready to hand. It doesn't matter which side the plug is on and it's up to the user. The plastic cover of the plugs has been adapted to the usual handlebar diameters, so that no rattling should be heard even on rough descents. The handlebar plug with the insertion tool also has an additional storage option for a spare chain link. The Zéfal Z-Bar Plugs are available now at a price of 29,95 euros, and the products of the French brand are distributed by Paul Lange & Co.
