Cycling films: Our readers have voted. TOUR OF HELL is the best cycling film of all time. But not only director Pepe Danquart has reason to be happy, but also a teacher from Regensburg. The winner of the Roadlite:ON would like to ride his e-bike to school in the future.
Pepe Danquart is happy about another award
If 30 films with a similar content or from a similar genre are presented, first place with the target group is a great success. Director Pepe Danquart, who released our winning film TOUR OF HELL 16 years ago, feels the same way. The now 65-year-old knows his way around awards – and as much as we would like it to be, the Velomotion vote for the best cycling film is not one of his greatest successes. Finally, in 1994, he won for RUBBER the Oscar for the best short film.
Hell Tour director Pepe Danquart
“I am extremely pleased that my film Höllentour won against 29 competitors. The film is therefore still interesting after all these years and so exciting for today's - probably mostly young - readers of Velomotion that it puts great films like The Flying Scotsman and other well-known cycling films in their place."
2.000 readers vote, one teacher wins the Roadlite:ON
2.000 readers took part in the vote for the best cycling film of all time on Velomotion. Before that, they were presented with 30 documentaries and films – one every day in April. This campaign was particularly worthwhile for a teacher from Regensburg. He won the Roadlite:ON and wants to ride his e-bike to school more often in the future.
Rank #2 behind HELL TOUR Incidentally, the industry-atypical film GO AND AWAY secured. Behind them were placed ICARUS and FLYING SCOTSMAN real film heavyweights.
