GCA League: Kasper & Carstensen celebrate overall victory

17 May 2020 by Michael Behringer

GCA LEAGUE

Cycling: The first edition of the GCA League has ended. After five races, Romy Kasper and Lucas Carstensen can celebrate as overall winners.

The GCA league ends with favorites winning

Also on the last day of GCA League the leaders in the overall standings were able to assert themselves. While Lucas Carstensen won the sprint for the third time, this time Romy Kasper even arrived as a soloist. Philipp Plambeck and Miguel Heidemann had to admit defeat in the men's category, Hannah Fandel and Tanja Erath in the women's category.

Lucas Carstensen:
“There were four sprints. that suits me If it had gone uphill more often, I would certainly not have done so well. On the descent you could roll calmly and catch a little air. You also reach the finish line earlier than the screen shows.”

Carstensen & Kasper with start and finish victory

On the Zwift World Championship course in Harrogate, the 41,4-kilometre route also included a 720-metre climb. However, this could not stop the favorites. On the contrary: Lucas Carstensen and Romy Kasper have been lying since day #1 GCA League in the lead and now, in addition to the final stages, also won the overall ranking with a start and finish victory.

Romy Kasper:
“I didn't want to risk a sprint, but I didn't go full throttle to save some energy in case the sprint should come up. I'm happy about this success because it shows me that I've trained well and am fit despite Corona."
