Dumoulin completes his transformation
Up until the 2015 season, few cycling fans would have believed Tom Dumoulin capable of winning a Grand Tour. However, when he finished sixth at the Vuelta a Espana, they realized the Dutchman was taking his announcement seriously. The top time trialist finally wanted to convince in the mountains too. He slimmed down, practiced mountain driving and kept his time trial strength. After a true epidemic season, 2017 was to be his big year. The goal: The 100th Giro d'Italia. Tom Dumoulin actually arrived in Milan dressed in pink, but he had to shiver to the end. Not even an unwanted toilet break could stop him. Ultimately, the then 26-year-old man from Maastricht triumphed by just 31 seconds over Nairo Quintana and 40 seconds over Vincenzo Nibali.
The Giro gets its perfect anniversary
For many spectators, despite the greater general popularity of the Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia is the best tour of the season. The weather is unpredictable, the landscapes are beautiful and the drivers come out in top form.
