ICU: This is the updated race calendar for 2020

5 May 2020 by Michael Behringer

Tour de France 2020 UCI ASO

Cycling: The UCI today presented the updated racing calendar for this season. The Tour de France and the most important one-day races are also included.

Tour de France from August 29th to September 20th

For weeks, fans and riders have had to do without bike races. The corona virus has also paralyzed cycling. But there is hope. Because now the UCI has presented an updated race calendar. So it should start again on August 12th with the Critérium du Dauphiné. However, the traditional preparatory race for the Tour de France should only include five instead of eight stages. The Grand Boucle will start on August 29th. As usual, it will end on September 20th in Paris on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The ladies at La Course should have had their grand entrance there. However, this has now been postponed, so that the women now give the starting signal for the 107th tour with their one-day race before the first stage.

The Vuelta & Giro overlap

In addition to the dates for the two French multi-stage races, other races have been scheduled. The Flèche Wallonne will take place on September 30th and Liège – Bastogne – Liège on October 4th. Paris – Roubaix will be postponed to October 25th and the Tour of Flanders will take place as usual a week before. This applies to both women and men. The Vuelta is expected to be held from October 20th to November 8th. The Tour of Spain thus overlaps with Paris – Roubaix and the Giro d'Italia, which will take place from October 3rd to 25th.
