Cycling: Despite the first easing, we still have to wait a bit for the road bike season to start. That's why the German Cycling Academy will now organize the GCA classics after the GCA league. Zwift starts on Saturday.
GCA Classic: Three races on three Saturdays
It's almost that time again. The participants will put their racing machines on the roller and cycle for success in their own four walls. Because after the GCA League the German Cycling Academy, together with its partner "Müller - Die lila Logistik" and the German Cyclists' Association, is now also the so-called GCA classic deliver. Running – or rather driving – is all done as usual via the Zwift training platform. There, digital images of the participants can be seen on the screen as they fight for victories on virtual courses. It starts on June 6th. The other dates are on the following Saturdays, i.e. June 13th and June 20th.
BDR Vice President Gunter Schabel:
“The GCA league was a stage race. Now we're doing a classic series with three separate races. You could see that the races in the GCA league were very much characterized by tactics at the end. With the format of the GCA Classics, maybe we can expect different races.”
Kids and hobby drivers can also ride along
Since digital cycling is still in its infancy and has been thrown into the cold water quite harshly due to the corona pandemic, improvements can already be seen in the GCA classics. These are already noticeable when looking at the events ahead of us. Because in addition to a rating for the professional female and male elite drivers, hobby drivers and children can also do their laps this time. The route lengths are between 35 and 60 kilometers. While the kids start at 17 p.m., the adults start pedaling from 18 p.m.

BDR Vice President Gunter Schabel:
“There was a strong demand and we wanted to meet that. The young cyclists are just as punished that there are currently no races and so we want to offer them a platform at least on Zwift.”
