Shimano XC9 and TR9 Elite Shoes: Proven performance shines in new splendor

June 2, 2020 by Andrew Waldera

Product news: Starting next fall, the Shimano performance shoes XC9 for cross country riders and TR9 for triathletes will be available in additional colors. In addition to blue and black, the XC9 will also shine in the color silver, the TR9 triathlon shoe will be complemented by Black Pearl.

Performance shoe XC9 for cross-country and cylocross riders

The XC9 cross-country/cyclocross shoe was developed by Shimano to meet the highest demands in training and racing. The midsole made of carbon fiber composite (stiffness class 11/12) and the specially developed Michelin outsole with anti-slip profile and studs should offer the driver excellent traction and direct power transmission in equal measure. To achieve this, the shoe, which is part of the S-PHYRE high-end collection, has a flat sole height and an external heel cup. Thanks to the different arch padding, the cushioning and cup-shaped insole can also be individually adjusted. The Shimano Dynalast technology should support a round and efficient upward movement when pedaling thanks to its last design with optimized toe elevation. Two individually adjustable Boa IP1 coils allow fine and precise adjustment of the shoe. In addition to the colors blue and black, the XC9 will be available in the color silver from autumn, while the existing green will be dropped. The price of the shoe, which weighs 330 grams (size 42), is 359,95 euros.

Shimano triathlon shoe TR9

The TR9 is an elite triathlon racing shoe developed by Shimano for maximum performance and comfort. To ensure that no valuable time is wasted in the transition zone, the triathlon shoe comes with an extra wide shaft that allows you to put it on quickly, a large heel loop that is easy to grip and a wide T1 quick strap. According to the manufacturer, the stiff and light carbon sole (stiffness class 10/12) ensures efficient power transmission to the pedal, while the Shimano Dynalast technology minimizes energy loss. A cushioning and stability-enhancing shell-shaped insole with adjustable arch padding allows the triathlete to customize it. The 3D mesh fabric and strategic ventilation are designed to ensure comfort - even without socks. The weight of the shoe in size 42 is given as 230 grams. In addition to the already offered Shimano Blue, the TR9 will be available in Black Pearl from autumn 2020 at a price of 229,95 euros.
