Product news: Cosmic Sports is now responsible for sales of the Veer brand in Germany, Austria, Benelux, Italy and France. True to the motto "A Belt Drive for All", the Northern Californian company has specialized in belt drives for retrofitting. The heart of this is the patented split belt system, which allows conversion to almost any bicycle frame.
A belt drive has a number of advantages. This not only impresses with its quiet and clean operation, but is also almost wear-free and maintenance-free. Northern California brand Veer offers an attractive conversion alternative for cyclists who would like to convert to a belt drive. The set sold by Cosmic Sports at a price of 399,90 euros consists of a belt and two pulleys for the front and rear. The CNC-machined pulleys are made of hardened CroMo steel and have a nickel coating for greater abrasion resistance. The open tooth profile is intended to ensure a high degree of self-cleaning. The lateral flange developed by Veer is responsible for the perfect guidance of the belt.
Veer retrofit belt drive: The split belt makes it possible
The installation of the retrofit belt drive is made possible by the split belt made of H-NBR rubber with carbon fiber reinforcement. The belt itself meets the same ISO stability standard as conventional link chains and, according to the manufacturer, is resistant to the effects of temperature, oxidation and chemicals. The appropriate belt length is determined depending on the chainstay length and the required pulleys. Veer offers no fewer than 15 lengths for this. The open ends of the strap are connected with 20 stainless steel rivets that are fed through the side openings. For the actual riveting process, a separately available pair of pliers is also required. The retrofit set is now available from specialist retailers.
