Cycling: Stefan Küng and Marlen Reusser defended their titles at the Swiss time trial championship this Sunday afternoon. On the grounds of Bern-Belp Airport, last year's two winners were in a class of their own.

With pleasure they have Swiss Cycling fans looked to Bern today. After the long Corona break, the Swiss time trial championships were held here today. The defending champions could Stefan Kung (Groupama – FDJ) and Marlen Reusser (Equipe Paule KA) confidently assert themselves against their challengers. In the men's race, Silvan Dillier (AG2R La Mondiale) and Stefan Bissegger (EF Pro Cycling) were relegated after 30 kilometers by 54 and 67 seconds respectively. For women, it was even more evident. Elise Chabbey (Equipe Paule KA) and Kathrin Stirnemann (Equipe Paule KA) got 20:1 and 03:1 minutes respectively in the 18-kilometer time trial. Stefan Küng celebrates his fourth triumph in a row. Marlen Reusser was successful for the third time.
The youngsters were also out and about in Bern
Even before the elite women and elite men, the Swiss junior classes were out and about on the airport grounds. It was much more exciting there. In the U23 class, Alexandre Balmer was only one second ahead of Joel Suter and 14 seconds ahead of Robin Froidevaux. 18-year-old Fabio Christen had previously won the Swiss junior championship title with 47 and 48 seconds ahead of Arnaud Tendon and Fabian Weiss. Junior Annika Liehner triumphed confidently with 1:50 and 1:57 minutes in front of Joline Winterberg and Linda Zanetti. All participants in the junior classes had to ride 20 kilometers. On August 22nd, the Swiss road races are scheduled to take place on the 2020 World Championship circuit in Aigle and Martigny.
