Test: Bosch CX motor, mullet tires, 160mm travel - sounds like fun? It does that too! The Ghost Hybride ASX 6.7+ is a lot of fun, especially on the downhill. Thanks to the lowerable suspension fork, it doesn't do badly on climbs, even if this isn't its prime discipline.

When we look at the Ghost Hybride ASX 6.7+ we have a déjà vu: apart from the color scheme, the frame of the E-MTB is the same as that of the Lapierre Overvolt AM 6.7. However, this is not a clumsy case of industrial espionage, the explanation is quite simple: Both manufacturers are at home under the umbrella of the Accell Group. The frame was developed for both manufacturers, but was aimed at different target groups due to the built-in equipment. The Ghost Hybride ASX 6.7 comes with two special features: On the one hand, there is the wheel size mix of 29” at the front and 27,5 inches at the rear, and on the other hand, the lowerable RockShox suspension fork.

The basic orientation of the bike can be described as quite sporty: the main frame is quite long, the steering angle is flat and the chainstays are pleasingly short. Due to the high front, the seating position is not too stretched out and even beginners should find their way around the Ghost fairly quickly.

Lowering the suspension fork only helps to a limited extent on climbs
The combination of high front end and short chainstays can be felt directly on the climbs. Despite the steep seat tube angle, this means that you sit quite rear-heavy on climbs and it is difficult to get enough pressure on the front wheel. But: Ghost was also aware of this and therefore installed a RockShox Yari fork with "Dual Position". A quick turn of the button on the fork crown is all it takes to reduce the travel at the front from 160mm to 130mm. This puts you in a better seating position for climbs - the Ghost doesn't turn into a climbing specialist, but it does get its rider reliably to the summit. The Bosch CX motor, which is controlled by the compact Purion display on the Ghost, delivers a convincing performance once again. The small powerhouse can also work very sensitively if necessary, which is also necessary on the Ghost because the Maxxis Rekon tire on the rear wheel does not offer too much grip on deep soil.
Convincing performance on the descent
The geometry of the Hybride ASX works much better on the descent: thanks to the long front and the large front wheel, there is a lot of smooth running. The low center of gravity also has a positive effect and the bike always puts a big grin on our faces off-road. Thanks to the short chainstays, it can also be easily circled around tight corners and is generally pleasingly lively. We have absolutely nothing to complain about in terms of equipment: The Formula Cura brakes with the large discs work great and have plenty of reserves, the Maxxis DHF at the front reliably digs in. The fact that the chassis generally reaches its limits at high speeds on demanding trails is tolerable in view of the successful driving characteristics.
