MTB News: Exactly one week after the World Championships in Saalfelden-Leogang, the 2020 MTB European Championships are to be held on Monte Tamaro in Monteceneri (Switzerland). From October 15th to 18th, over 400 drivers from around 35 countries will be fighting for a total of nine titles. The European cycling association UEC is expecting many fans to be there, and extensive TV coverage should also bring the spectacle into the living room at home.

After organizing the UCI MTB World Championships in 2003, Monte Tamaro is preparing for a new mega event this year. The MTB European Championships are one of the most important events on the international calendar, but the Covid-19 pandemic caused the event originally planned in Graz to be canceled last May. In close cooperation with the International Cycling Union (UCI), it was decided to host the 2020 MTB European Championships from October 15th to 18th in Monte Tamaro.
"Awarding the 2020 MTB European Championship to Switzerland is another step forward for the Union Européenne de Cyclisme in a particularly difficult season due to the health crisis of Covid-19" - Rocco Cattaneo, President of the UEC (Union Européenne de Cyclisme)
The European Championships will be organized by the Velo Club Monte Tamaro, which has already initiated a number of top-class events in off-road cycling, such as the Tamaro Trophy. The association is supported in its work by the Swiss association Swiss Cycling. Over 400 riders from around 35 countries will take part in the four days of racing in October, competing for nine titles in Olympic Cross-Country (U19, U23 and Elite - women's and men's respectively), Team Relay and Eliminator (women's and men's). . Further details will be published on the website of the European cycling association UEC in the next few days.
