Product news: The new Orbea Oiz OMX 2021 comes with a new, impressively light carbon layup and claims to be the lightest XC fully in the world. Compared to the Oiz predecessor, the geometry has been slightly adjusted and the tried-and-tested MyO range has been expanded once again for an individual look and driving pleasure.
With the new Orbea Ois OMX 2021, the Spanish manufacturer caused a stir at the virtual press launch, because according to the manufacturer, this is the lightest XC fully in the world. This is made possible by the new OMX carbon layup in conjunction with minor changes, which not only ensure an impressive total weight of just 1740 grams in size M and thus 250 grams of weight reduction, but also enable a first-class ride quality. In addition to weight, the focus here was also on rigidity, comfort and reliability. The new OMX layup not only reduces weight but also increases stiffness. Nevertheless, the developers ensured pleasant comfort through ingenious structures. Another special feature are the 5mm shorter chainstays, which should ensure more agility and competitive orientation.
In addition to the chainstays that have been shortened to 430mm, the geometry remains largely the same as in the predecessor. However, you can still see that the geometry of the Orbea Oiz OMX 2021 is quite traditional. This can be seen, for example, in the steering angle of 69 degrees or a reach of 435 mm for size M, which is rather short compared to other manufacturers.
With a new handlebar and stem from our own company, the Orbea Oiz OMX 2021 can boast the next innovation. In addition, the internal cable routing has been improved to ensure less susceptibility to defects and to offer a cleaner look. When it comes to defects, one should also mention the replaceable UDH derailleur hanger, which can be replaced quickly and easily. Otherwise, many features of the predecessor have also been adopted on the new Orbea Oiz. For example, the Fiberlink rocker is still used, as well as the Squidlock lockout, which allows the fork and damper to be controlled in three stages. There is also the option of integrating a lever for the seat post. Long-distance riders should also be pleased that there is space for two drinking bottles in the frame triangle in the sizes M, L and XL.
Orbea Oiz OMX 2021 – The models
Like its predecessor, the Orbea Oiz OMX 2021 is available in several variants. The XC racing version comes with 100 mm of travel. A TR version with 120mm is also available for sporty trail riders. Basically, the bikes can also be distinguished by the frame material. A trail version made of aluminum is available for price-conscious bikers. But the high-quality and extremely performance-oriented OMX carbon is also used for the carbon frames. On the other hand, there is also a slightly heavier OMR Carbon variant, which also offers the best ride quality in all other areas. The frame weight for an Orbea Oiz ORM 2021 including the shock is 2080 grams in size M.
Otherwise, the driver can choose from four different basic models. However, these can be individually changed and adjusted with the help of the MyO program. The top model Oiz M-LTD, for example, comes with a Fox chassis and SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS drive for € 8.599.
The MyO program is also available for the new Oiz, so that the bike can be individually designed in terms of color and equipment. In addition to various equipment highlights, the finish options Marble, Terrazo, Geometric Camouflage and Matte/Glossm are available.
