Product news: 6,872 kilos are nothing special for a bike these days. Especially in street racing and in times of carbon racers, this is no longer a big challenge. But it is different when it comes to an e-bike, because here the German developer Dennis Freiburg created a new one with exactly this weight of 6,872 kilos Guinnes World Record entry for the lightest e-bike in the world.
"The lightest electrical bicycle prototype" is the official name for Dennis Freiburg's 6,872 kilo e-bike in the Guinness Book of Records. The e-bike from Freiburg was registered for the record more than a year ago and the record first has to pass a number of performance tests on the battery and motor, because a minimum level of power is a prerequisite in the certification process. The lightest e-bike in the world meets the requirements with its 250 watts of support without any problems and accommodates this power in an ultra-light frame from Merida. In the end, however, you have to make some compromises, because when it comes to range, the lightest e-bike in the world can hardly keep up with common models. The bike can cover between 19 and 35 kilometers depending on the support level. The battery is hidden in a small lightweight drinking bottle.

The drive of the lightest e-bike in the world is a complete in-house development by Dennis Freiburg. Because it is a so-called friction roller drive, which attaches to the rear wheel and attaches its support here. Of course, even with this system, only e-support is added if you pedal yourself. The complete drive on the lightest e-bike in the world weighs around two kilos.

The inventor Freiburg does not see himself at the end and has already set the next goals. For the time being, it should be less than 6,5 kilos.
