Liv Intrigue 29: High-quality women's all-mountain trail bike with aluminum frame

August 10, 2020 by Florian Nowak

Product news: The new Liv Intrigue 29 is the first 29er all-mountain trail bike from the well-known manufacturer of women's bikes of all kinds. The high-quality aluminum frame is designed to offer first-class performance on both epic climbs and rough descents.

The new Liv Intrigue 29 comes with an adjustable geometry, Maestro rear suspension system and 29-inch wheels with boost and tubeless technology, combining lightness when going uphill with pleasant safety and calm on descents.

“Our Intrigue 29 is a versatile all-mountain trail bike that can take a beating: It masters technically demanding single trails and even challenging terrain with ease. The Intrigue 29 now comes with 29” wheels and a flip chip that allows the rider to quickly adjust the geometry to suit her preferences and the terrain. It's the ideal trail bike, with excellent climbing and rollover capabilities.” – Ludi Scholz, Liv's Global Offroad Category Manager

The geometry of the bike can be easily adjusted with a flip chip. These flip chips are eccentric damper mounts in the "Advanced Forged" carbon linkage of the rear triangle. They can be used in two positions (“high” and “low”) and in this way influence the frame geometry. The rider can set a steeper or slacker steering/seat angle and also vary the height of the bottom bracket. The "high" position steepens the steering and seat angles, allowing the bike to be steered with more agility and allowing the rider to adopt a slightly more "aggressive" climbing position. At the same time, the bottom bracket is slightly higher, which provides more ground clearance and thus makes pedaling in very rooty and rocky terrain easier. Thus, the "high" position is just the right choice for slower, tighter and more technical terrain. In the "Low" position, on the other hand, the body's center of gravity moves downwards/backwards: The bottom bracket is lowered, the steering and seat angles are slightly flatter. This position provides more stability even at high speeds and more self-confidence on steep terrain.

The basis for the development of the Intrigue 29 was Liv's 3F design philosophy, which is also reflected in the frame geometry and suspension setup. The Liv 3F design process takes into account countless data sets worldwide that allow a truly women-specific frame to be built. In this way, the weight distribution on the bike is optimized so that riders can adopt the best possible seating position and use their muscle power as efficiently as possible. In addition, the suspension is precisely tailored to the needs of women, so that it provides optimal functionality depending on the driver and purpose. This results in better traction, more control and more self-confidence.

Liv Intrigue 29 – Balanced agility

The Intrigue 29 features the innovative Maestro suspension. The rear end comes with an ultra-light, extremely torsion-resistant "Advanced Forged" carbon link and a trunnion damper mount, which extracts 125 mm of travel from the damper and works to match the 140 mm fork. Liv's custom suspension tuning provides more efficiency when accelerating and braking. This makes the Intrigue agile on technical climbs and smooth on rough descents.

Liv Intrigue 29 - No Compromises

Both the main frame and the rear triangle are made of high-quality ALUXX SL aluminum, which gives the Liv Intrigue 29 the best possible strength-to-weight ratio. Our unique welding technology also ensures first-class driving characteristics. All Intrigue 29 models are equipped with 1×12 drivetrains, hydraulic disc brakes and dropper posts. They also got new, improved down tube and chainstay protectors as well as Liv's brand new "Sylvia" saddle - no detail was skimped on for the ultimate trail bike!

Liv Intrigue 29 – Top performance & best handling

The Liv Intrigue 29 is equipped with an overdrive head tube with large headset bearings and a tapered steerer tube. Both together ensure a stiff bike front with the highest steering precision. Thanks to Boost hubs, the 29-inch wheels are also particularly stiff, which in combination with the larger tire clearance (up to 2,5″) ensures improved handling on the trail. In addition, all Intrigue 29 models are equipped with tubeless wheels and tires, which ensures reliable grip and a reduced risk of flat tires.
