News: The trend towards cycling has not only been going on since Corona. Especially due to the ever lighter e-MTBs, the forests and trails of the republic are getting more and more crowded. This harbors a lot of potential for conflict between cyclists, hikers, foresters and other forest interest groups. With the new campaign "Love Trails - Respect Rules" you want to promote togetherness and trail rules in the forest.
Six Golden Trail Rules
The “Love Trails – Respect Rules” campaign was launched by Delius Klasing Verlag, which also publishes several bicycle-related magazines. The aim is to sensitize mountain bikers and e-mountain bikers in particular to behave more considerately in the forest.
The latter has become an increasing problem in recent years. The stumbling blocks were dangerous situations on narrow paths, leaving rubbish behind, disturbing animals by driving at night and creating wild trails off the beaten track. For this reason, the campaign gives bikers the following six trail rules:
- Trail sharing – Respect other trail users
- No Shortcuts - Stay on the paths
- Stay Safe – Ride in your comfort zone
- Ride for Future - Leave no trash and no traces
- No Nightrights - Give the animals their rest
- Stop building illegal - legal routes are needed
Broad support for more respect in the forest
The campaign is not only backed by the specialist publisher, but also by a wide range of well-known manufacturers. Partners from the bike industry include Cube, Trek, Bosch, Shimano Schwalbe and Salzburger Land. At the same time, the German Alpine Club (DAV) also takes the same line.
No wonder, after all, the Alpine region is currently being confronted with an unprecedented number of mountain bikers and hikers. "Be considerate of those on foot and don't drive across country! Calmness and tolerance from everyone involved is now required!” This is the appeal from DAV President Josef Klenner. What do you think of the trail rules - top or flop?
