MTB News: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the international Crankworx Events team, in consultation with the local organizing committee, decided in April to postpone Crankworx Innsbruck 2020 to late summer. Fortunately, the current situation allows the event to actually take place on October 3rd.

Undoubtedly, the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown quite a mess into the 2020 FMB World Tour schedule. The stop of the Crankworx World Tour originally planned for June will now stop in Innsbruck at the beginning of October. However, the classic will take place on October 3rd as an FMB Gold Tour event and not as a Crankworx FMBA SWC competition. The reason for this is that various drivers from all over the world cannot participate in the event. For example, due to the current worldwide travel restrictions, North American starters who are not already in Europe are not to be expected. Among those affected are Nicholi Rogatkin and David Lieb, both of whom will probably not be able to compete in Innsbruck.

In addition, since prize money and points are adjusted according to FMB World Tour regulations, there is no need to crown a Slopestyle World Champion at the end of the season. The prize money for winning the title will therefore not be awarded this year. Despite the downgrading to a gold level event, the riders will still be set up according to SWC rules. Top drivers such as Emil Johansson (SWE), Erik Fedko (GER), Tomas Lemoine (FRA) and the two French Red Bull Rookie of the Year winners Lucas Huppert and Tim Bringer are expected. There are also changes in judging, which will be done digitally this year. The judges will follow the runs from home and make their decisions.
