Product news / E-MTB: The Hercules Rob Family is aimed at families who want to replace their car with a very special type of commercial vehicle. And the newly designed Rob Fold proves that all-round practical bikes can be beautiful and fun.
Hercules shows its practical side with the brand new Rob Family model. With its long rear end, the compact truck is tailored entirely to transporting children – two small passengers can ride in the seats available as an accessory on the spacious carrier, which also offers space for the two Bosch batteries with 500 watt hours each. So generously supplied with energy, the Bosch Performance mid-engine can move heavy loads over a long period of time: the cargo bike, which weighs around 165 kilograms, can carry a load of 35 kilograms. Where only one or no child is transported, stable metal baskets take a lot of payload; A basket that can carry a load of ten kilos fits on the head tube.
Solid in the details
With a two-legged stand, disc brakes and stepless gear hub together with a toothed belt, the Rob Family is solidly designed in every detail. The 24-inch wheels are a good compromise between driving dynamics and agility, and with 2,15-inch tires, the damping comfort is also right. As befits a real family bike, the frame comes in one size from 165 to 190 cm tall; The height of the handlebars can be adjusted by 150 mm using the all-up stem. Additions such as the bottle holder eyelets on the head tube simplify handling, as does the frame lock mounted on the fork for short-term parkers. And with the integrated C-Link coupling for the Hercules children's trailer, the Rob Family finally becomes a trailer truck (and a replacement for a car).
Butterfly with new properties
The successful compact bike Rob Fold with the practical folding joint has been significantly further developed and offers a new frame that looks more harmonious and flatter. The manoeuvrable 20-incher is just as safe to ride as a conventional 28-inch bike, but with its compact dimensions it is much easier to transport and store - interesting for city dwellers with a narrow basement or parking space in the apartment. With the new Rob Fold F5, there is now a model with a five-speed gear hub and belt drive, both perfectly matched to the powerful "Bosch Performance Cruise" mid-engine. With a two-legged stand and 50 mm wide tyres, height-adjustable and swiveling handlebars and the practical handle on the saddle, this is a bike that combines low weight and a lot of practical use with lively steering behavior and is therefore perfect for city traffic. Thanks to the 500 watt-hour battery, it's also in its element on longer tours - as long as the surface is smooth, because you have to do without a suspension here.
