Danger of broken forks: Salsa recalls Cutthroat V2 bicycle forks

September 3, 2020 by Andreas Waldera

Product news: For safety reasons, the US bicycle manufacturer Salsa has launched a recall campaign. This affects the Cutthroat Carbon Deluxe V2 and Cutthroat Carbon V2 forks of the 2020 model year. Since the fork can break, further use is strongly discouraged. Customers who are in possession of such a fork should contact their bicycle workshop for further processing.

The serial number tells you exactly which forks are involved in the recall campaign. The serial number is affixed to a circular sticker that is visible when the fork is removed from the frame. Each serial number is a QR code surrounded by an alphanumeric code. The middle string of letters consists of either “CCAP” or “CCCP”. If the following letter is a G, it is an affected cutthroat fork and should not be used until further notice.

Please note that only forks with the designations “CCAPG” and “CCCPG” are affected. If the letter following the P is NOT a G, the fork is NOT affected . If your bicycle fork is affected by the recall, please contact your local dealer. Once the affected fork has been received by Cosmic Sports, they will provide a replacement or issue a credit note as quickly as possible. No injuries or accidents have been reported to date.
