Time change on the e-bike: step by step: Who has turned the clock?

27 October 2020 by the editorial office

E-Performance: Last weekend it was that time again. Winter is here again and we put, as the old saying goes: “Put your shoes BACK in the house”. So all clocks BACK one hour. The most important clocks usually adjust themselves automatically to the valid time, such as the car, the mobile phone or the radio alarm clock. But what about stoves, e-bikes and the like? Every year again the operating instructions came out and leaf through. No need, we've looked at the steps for the main drives and displays.

Those who prefer to watch the respective adjustment steps for their e-bike in video form will find what they are looking for on our YouTube channel:

Time change Bosch Kiox

With the Bosch Knox, the Swabians have created a modern and above all intuitive display. Clear design and clear design with a simple operating concept.

The Bosch Kiox system is controlled via the control panel on the handlebars. In the display, the different views are clarified via the small dots at the bottom edge, through which you can easily switch with the left and right button.

Click left once and the settings menu will become visible. Briefly confirm with the Enter key (lying diamond on the joystick).

Use the +/- buttons to navigate to the system settings and confirm the selected menu item by clicking to the right.

Navigate again with the +/- keys to the menu item Time and confirm with a click to the right.

The time is set again with the +/- keys. Simply set back an hour with – and confirm with the Enter key (horizontal hash).

The time change on the Bosch Kiox is complete. The system menu is exited again via the Enter key.

Time change Bosch Intuvia

Probably the most widespread e-bike display is the Bosch Intuvia. Once you are in the system settings, changing the time is child’s play. But getting there requires a little trick.

The display is ready and with a little trick you can also access the system settings of the Bosch Intuvia. Simply press the (i) and the RESET button simultaneously for a few seconds.

The fact that you are in the system settings is indicated by the bottom line in the display. The time can now be changed by the minute using the ON/OFF and LIGHT buttons. Simply hold the ON/OFF button for a long time and then the 60-minute time change is done in no time.

The whole thing can also be operated via the remote on the handlebars. Once you are in the time settings, simply set the correct time with +/-.

After the correct time has been set. Simply press and hold the RESET button to exit the settings menu.

Time change Shimano STEPS E8000 Display Unit

Shimano offers two different models of display units for mountain bikes. We took a look at the Shimano STEPS E8000 display, the most common.

There is a small button on the underside of the display unit. This small button takes you to the system menu and also serves as the Enter key. Important: you can only access the menu when the vehicle is stationary. Simply hold down the button for a long time and the system settings will open.

Shimano offers two different switch / trigger variants for the Steps E8000 and E7000 models. The operating principle is always the same. With the top button up and with the bottom button down.

Once you have navigated to the Clock menu item, briefly confirm with the button at the bottom of the display and you have the option of setting the time with the buttons on the handlebars.

Once the correct time has been set, press the button at the bottom of the display for a long time to exit the system settings.

Time change Shimano STEPS E6100 Display Unit

Shimano has the STEPS E6100 display up its sleeve for trekking and city bikes. Significantly larger and more information content, but basically the same to use as the E8000. We will show you how the time change works.

Significantly more information, but the operating principle is just as intuitive. Long press the menu button at the bottom left and the system settings will open. Also important here: do it while you are stationary, otherwise it will not work.

The trigger buttons on the handlebar make it easy to navigate up and down through the menu. You confirm again with the menu button on the display.

If the menu item time is found, confirm with the menu button and open it.

The time can be adjusted up and down easily and intuitively using the buttons on the remote.

When everything is finished, navigate to the exit point and confirm this briefly with the menu button.

Time change Yamaha Display C

The large 2,8-inch color dot matrix display is used in many new city and trekking bikes, and is easy to read and informative.

The display itself offers only two buttons, ON/OFF and LIGHT. The rest is controlled via the control unit on the handlebars.

Hold the SELECT button for a long time and the settings will open.

The up and down buttons take you quickly and easily to the Clock Adjust menu item. Briefly confirm with the SELECT button and you are in the settings menu for the time.

Set the time again using the up and down buttons.

Once the correct time has been set, you exit the menu again by pressing and holding the SELECT button.

Now that you have set the time correctly on your e-bike, long rides, shopping trips or the daily commute no longer stand in the way - in the dark time of the year. And you're always on time.
