Cycling: So far the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia have been rather unsuccessful for Thomas de Gendt. Tomorrow it could work on the twelfth stage with a breakaway coup.

Velomotion forecast: Thomas de Gendt wants to know
The profile of the twelfth stage looks like a shark's jaw. That makes one thing clear: there certainly won't be a mass sprint tomorrow. Since the general classification contenders probably aren't expecting much either, we see the breakaway riders at the front. The 204-kilometer stage, starting and finishing in Cesenatico, features five categorized climbs. However, the climbs aren't particularly long. Furthermore, the final 30 kilometers are downhill or flat all the way to the finish. Only a truly strong rider can win this stage. We're betting on breakaway king Thomas De Gendt (Lotto-Soudal). The Belgian has been surprisingly unlucky with his attempts this year. He's come away empty-handed from both the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia . Tomorrow, that should change!
