Cycling: The second stage of the Giro d'Italia could be a matter for the sprinters. At least those who can keep up well uphill can dream of winning the stage tomorrow.
Velomotion forecast: Michael Matthews prevails
Um Peter Sagan (Bora – hansgrohe) for the Giro d'Italia, the organizers have put a lot of effort into it. Among other things, some parts have been installed, which are absolutely tailor-made for the Slovak. Tomorrow the Tour of Italy takes us over 149,0 kilometers from Alcamo to Agrigento. Wavy at the beginning, the section flattens out sharply in the middle of the race, before becoming arrhythmic again at the end. Due to the last four kilometers, a classic mass sprint seems to be out of the question. Rather, the punchers and the hilly sprinters will fight for the day's victory. The finish is therefore made – in addition to Peter Sagan – also for Michael Matthews (Sunweb). At the latest at the World Cup a few days ago, the Australian showed that he is now difficult to lose uphill. If the home straight rises, he is hard to beat in the sprint anyway.
☆☆☆ Michael Matthews (Sunweb)
* * Peter Sagan (Bora - hansgrohe), Enrico Battaglin (Bahrain - McLaren)
* Diego Ulissi (UAE), Fabio Felline (Astana), Simone Consonni (Cofidis)
