Giro d'Italia showdown. The 15,7-kilometre time trial from Cernusco sul Naviglio to Milan was to decide what was perhaps the most exciting Tour of Italy of all time. Filippo Ganna remains in a class of his own in the time trial
Already at 13:40 drove in person from Jonathan Dibben (Lotto – Soudal) the first pro off the launch pad. The day's victory of the 21st stage went as expected Philippo Ganna. The Italian time trial world champion thus won his fourth stage in this tour. In a time of 17:16 he pulverized the best time of Victor Campenaerts by 31 seconds.
