Cycling: The 118th edition of the one-day classic Paris – Roubaix cannot be held in 2020. This decision was made by the ASO because of the increasing number of corona cases in France.
Paris – Roubaix is out in 2020
At first it was said that only 1.000 spectators would be allowed in the Roubaix velodrome and possibly none at all in the pavé sectors. But now it's official: The 118th edition of Paris – Roubaix has to be canceled completely. As recently as October 7th, almost 19.000 new infections with the corona virus were reported in France. Ultimately, the ASO had no choice but to cancel the one-day race, which had been postponed to October 25th
OSA press release:
"At the request of the Prefect du Nord, the Prefect des Hauts de France and following the announcement made yesterday by Health Minister Olivier Véran to place the Lille metropolitan area on alert, the 118th edition of Paris-Roubaix cannot take place."
