Product news: When chasing through the forest at night, an additional helmet lamp is almost mandatory. The cone of light always follows the line of sight, does not bounce restlessly through the field of vision and also illuminates curves early on. With the AMPP lamp series, the Japanese brand CATEYE is aimed at all riders who definitely need more luminosity on their rides.
The CATEYE AMPP lamp series includes three models with 500, 800 or 1.100 lumens. In addition to the strong luminosity, the compact helmet lamps with integrated battery should also score with a wide illumination and homogeneous light distribution. According to the manufacturer, SMD LEDs and OpiCube technology are used for this. The modes available are High, Mid, Low, Daytime and Flash. The burn time ranges from 1,5 hours at the highest level to 4,5 hours in low mode. The current battery status can be read using a multicolored battery indicator. The AMPP lamps are charged via micro USB cable - this should be done in around four hours.
When developing the lamps, great importance was also attached to a robust and light housing with a low overall height. The housing of the AMPP 800 (136 grams) is made entirely of aluminum, while that of the AMPP 500 (117 grams) is made of plastic. The AMPP 1100 offers a combination of both materials. The 1.100 lumen lamp weighs 200 grams. The compact helmet lamps are attached with a universal, angle-adjustable helmet mount. The Velcro is fed through the ventilation holes of the helmet and then fixed. The lamps are available at prices of EUR 44,95 (AMPP 500), EUR 64,95 (AMPP 800) and EUR 119,95 (AMPP 1100) and are distributed by Paul Lange & Co. OHG.
