Track European Championship #4: Levy also wins the gold medal in the keirin

14 November 2020 by Michael Behringer

Levy Track European Championship Keirin Gold

Cycling: What a track cycling championship for Maximilian Levy. The only German Startet also wins his second competition and becomes European Champion in Keirin.

Levy becomes European Keirin Champion for the third time

Victory in heats, semi-finals and finals: Maximilian Levy races to his second gold medal at the European Track Cycling Championships in Plovdiv. After he already triumphed in the sprint yesterday, he can now also call himself European champion in the keirin. The only German starter referred Denis Dmitriev (Russia) and Sotirios Bretas (Greece) for Silver and Bronze respectively. And it was pretty close to the point. Because Levy was waiting for his biggest competitor to appear in the person of Dmitriev. Then the 33-year-old reacted and led the field for a complete lap – to the finish line. There the Russian came menacingly close again, but it should be enough. After 2013 and 2017, Maximilian Levy won European Championship gold in this competition for the third time.

Voinova also becomes double European champion

A lady should be able to do the same feat that Maximilian Levy achieved. Anastasia Voinova (Russia) won the sprint yesterday and the keirin race today. She stepped forward Veronica Jabornikova (Czech Republic) and Migle Marozaite (Lithuania). The men's points race began Sebastian Mori (Spain). Silver and bronze were allowed to each other Matteo Donega (Italy) and Daniel Christa (Romania) hang around.
