Super prestige in Gavere: Wins for Pidcock & Brand

Cycling: Tom Pidcock has made an exclamation mark! The Briton won the Superprestige race at Gavere, inflicting a defeat on Mathieu van der Poel for the first time in 364 days. In the women's category, Lucinda Brand, who is currently outstanding, triumphed once again.

Even Mathieu van der Poel was amazed. Tom Pidcock rides to his first win in professional cyclocross at the Superprestige race at Gavere. Ironically, when the big star from the Netherlands made his comeback, the young Brit had his best performance to date. He was able to distance his pursuer by a whopping 25 seconds. Toon Aerts was third ahead of Eli Iserbyt, who was able to just about defend his overall lead.

Brand becomes the serial winner

Nothing new with the ladies. Lucinda brand also won in Gavere and thus the fourth Superprestige race in a row. The Dutch finished ahead of her compatriots Denise Betsema and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado by 12 and 33 seconds respectively. In the overall standings, she now leads by two points ahead of yesterday's third-place finisher.
