Canyon Neuron:ON 2021: Sporty E-MTB tourer with a new motor and larger battery

25 January 2021 by Michael Faiss

Product news / E-MTB: Like all E-MTBs from Koblenz, the successful Canyon Neuron:ON model is getting an upgrade for the motor for the 2021 season: From now on, the Shimano EP8 will provide propulsion, in many variants even with the large 630 Wh battery.

The Canyon Neuron:ON is a prime example of why modern E-MTBs are so popular. With its balanced geometry, reasonable, solid attachments and an overall focus between trail fun and touring suitability, it appeals to a very broad group of buyers. That showed itself in our big E-MTB test last year, where the bike is was able to secure victory among the bestsellers. So there is little reason for Canyon to change anything about this recipe for success - accordingly, both the frame and the overall concept for 2021 remain the same. For this, the all-rounder is given an engine upgrade: The Shimano EP8 replaces the E8000 of the predecessor - more power, less background noise and a dash more dynamics. In addition, depending on the equipment variant and frame size, there is now a battery capacity of up to 630 Wh.

Canyon Neuron:ON 2021: models and trim levels

The Canyon Neuron:ON will be available in 2021 in three basic versions, within which there are some differences, including the price. On the one hand, there will also be a special WMN version for women of the Neuron:ON 7 and Neuron:ON 8 this season - with smaller frames and specially adapted contact points such as the saddle. On the other hand, there are also price differences depending on the frame size: In the smallest sizes (XS and S), the down tube does not offer enough space for the 630 Wh battery, which is also slightly larger in size. The 504 Wh variant installed instead makes the bike in these sizes 200 euros cheaper.
