The new Met Manta Mips: Style, performance, safety

March 1, 2021 by Florian Nowak

Product news: With the new Met Manta Mips, the helmet specialist from Italy wants to combine aesthetics, safety and modern design. Especially together with the pros of the WorldTour Team UAE you could collect important data and constantly improve on the basis of professional feedback. This development work enables Met to offer hobby athletes and professional cyclists alike the best performance with the Manta Mips. During development, the focus was on these four areas: safety, aerodynamics, fit and style. In order to combine these four properties in the best possible way, the new Met Manta Mips has not completely forgotten its roots and is based on the design and shape of its predecessor.

The new Met Manta Mips with even better performance

With the new Met Manta Mips, the helmet specialist from Italy wants to combine aesthetics and modern design.

Speed and aerodynamics are becoming increasingly important not only for racers, which is why the developers of the Met Manta Mips have worked harder on aerodynamics with the help of special wind tunnel tests in the famous Newton laboratory in Milan, making it even more aerodynamic than its predecessor. This is mainly due to its lower, tubular profile at the rear.

But any aerodynamic benefit wouldn't be worth half as much if the helmet didn't fit properly or pinched uncomfortably. Therefore, another important criterion was the comfort of the Manta Mip. For this purpose, the know-how and the shapes of the Met Trenta 3K Carbon have been used and equipped with a 360-degree headband, which effectively prevents pressure points on the head.

When we talk about comfort when it comes to helmets, we certainly can't forget about ventilation. As you are used to from Met, the interior shape was designed in such a way that the incoming air is guided through ideally. The typical NACA ventilation opening also works in combination with the specially positioned air outlet, which ensures a constant flow of air through the helmet without increasing air resistance.

With so many technical and stylish features, however, one often forgets what a helmet is actually for. Because the primary purpose is to protect. That's why safety is also at the top of the list with the Manta Mips. For this purpose, every single production batch of Met helmets is strictly tested in our own laboratory. As the name suggests, the new Manta is equipped with the Mips-C2® security system. This means that it floats freely on the head and, in the event of a fall, should effectively divert serious rotational forces from the head. In addition, the magnetic Fidlock buckle offers the best hold and at the same time simplifies the closing and opening of the chin strap.
