Spectrum: As part of a special program, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure wants to improve bicycle parking facilities at train stations. The BMVI is providing 2023 million euros for this until 2,3. The specially set up information point "Bike parking at train stations" will start work on July 1st.
Commuters can sing a plaintive song about how difficult it can be to park a bicycle in front of the train station. The lack of protection of the wheels from wind and weather is even the least of the problems. Unfortunately, vandalism and theft are not uncommon - reason enough for many cyclists to prefer to use the car. In order to improve the situation of bicycle parking at train stations, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure has commissioned DB Station & Service AG to set up and operate a special information point. This is intended to support municipalities and other interested parties in setting up bicycle parking facilities and bicycle parking garages at train stations. The BMVI is providing a sum of 2023 million euros for this until 2,3.
Information center "Bike parking at train stations" starts work on July 1st
Federal Minister Andreas Scheuer explains: “Cycling to the train station and then continuing on with the regional or S-Bahn – this is what modern commuting looks like. The prerequisite for this, however, is that people can park their bikes safely and easily at the station. That is exactly what we want to ensure now. That is why we are setting up a contact point that, for example, advises and supports municipalities in setting up modern bicycle parking spaces. It starts on July 1st. This is a huge opportunity for cities and municipalities to create a real offer, especially for commuters. Our support is there, now things have to be tackled on site.”
With modern bicycle parking facilities, the Federal Ministry would like to increase the attractiveness of the bicycle traffic infrastructure and ultimately encourage more people to switch to bicycles. The proximity to the train station should also improve the link between the means of transport by bike and train, which could significantly improve the situation, especially for commuters. The information point "Bike parking at train stations" is intended to bundle information, advise and pass on know-how from practice. Municipalities and interested parties can find out about structural and design implementation options, technical solutions and financing, among other things. In addition, regular information events and on-site visits will take place. A conference on the subject of “bicycle parking at train stations” is also planned for next year.
Forward-looking e-mobility: SHAREA sharing concept from eurorad Germany
The ZEG subsidiary eurorad Germany, for example, offers an innovative solution for cities, municipalities or companies. The SHAREA platform is based on various cornerstones and includes cutting-edge vehicles, state-of-the-art app technology and individual parking facilities. The SHAREA HUB access enables secure access to the most modern e-mobility vehicles at various locations. The SHAREA app fulfills several functions directly: Not only can the e-bike be booked easily, but the door to the SHAREA HUB and the lock on the vehicle can also be opened. The app also confirms the proper return after the end of the journey. A concept that certainly fits perfectly into today's world and should be an attractive solution for safe and modern mobility for municipalities.
