Cycling: Mark Padun surprisingly won the mountain finish on the seventh stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. The Ukrainian pulled away on the final climb and kept the competition at bay. The new overall leader is Richie Porte, second in the stage.
Padun takes Bahrain's next win – Victorious
Who would have expected this result? Mark Padun (Bahrain – Victorious) won the seventh stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. The surprising thing is that he wasn't part of a breakaway, but triumphed from within the group of favourites. In the final ascent, he pulled away from his companions, also because he no longer posed a threat in the overall ranking. He was allowed to go - and the Ukrainian used this opportunity to win his first victory in this prestigious tour.
Porte takes over the overall lead from Lutsenko
Shortly after 10 a.m., the professionals in Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux set off on the 171,1-kilometer route to La Plagne, so that they reached the finish line just before 15 p.m. There was allowed Richie porte (Ineos Grenadiers) are not only happy about second place, but also about the lead in the overall standings. The Australian is now 17 seconds ahead of the previous leader alexey lutsenko (Astana-Premier Tech).
